The story of women's suffering in the time of Moses, peace be upon him
The third suffering of Umm Musa
At the moment when the conversation was taking place between Pharaoh and his wife regarding the topic of killing Moses
Musa's mother was suffering greatly from the loss of her infant
Until God described her condition by saying:
Umm Musa’s heart became empty
She almost would have rejected it had We not tied it to her heart so that she would be one of the believers
Her heart became empty, with no mind in it to think or manage the matter
Because of the extreme shock of losing her child
Rather, she almost exposed herself and announced that she lost her child in Al-Yam
If it were not for God's kindness to her
Ibn Kathir, may God have mercy on him, said
God Almighty tells us about the heart of Moses’ mother when her son went into the sea
It has become empty
That is, from everything in the world except from Moses
This was said by Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Ikrimah, and Saeed Ibn Jubayr
And Abu Ubaidah, Al-Dahhak, Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Qatada and others
If she could start it
That is, if it was due to her extreme distress, sadness, and regret
To show that she had a son
She tells of her condition had it not been for God’s steadfastness and patience
God Almighty said
If We had not tied her heart to be among the believers
Al-Saadi, may God have mercy on him, said
When Musa lost his mother, she was deeply saddened
Her heart became empty of the anxiety that disturbed her due to the human condition
Although God Almighty forbade her from sadness and fear and promised her his response
If she was about to reveal it, meaning what was in her heart
If it weren't for us, we would tie her heart
So we fixed her and she was patient and did not show it
To be patient and steadfast among the believers
If a servant is struck by a calamity, he is patient and steadfast
This indicates that the servant continues to be anxious
Evidence of the weakness of his faith
It is natural for a person to feel sad when a calamity occurs
But if he continues to feel sad or behaves contrary to Islamic law
This is reprehensible
It is contrary to the patience that God has commanded us to have
God Almighty said
We will certainly test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits.
And give good news to those who are patient
Who if a misfortune befalls them
Say: We belong to God and to Him we shall return
On them are blessings and mercy from their Lord
And those are the guided ones
When the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, saw a woman crying at a grave
He told her to be patient
On the authority of Anas bin Malik, may God be pleased with him, he said:
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by a woman crying at a grave
He said, “Fear God and be patient.”
She said to you about me, for you did not suffer from my calamity and you did not know it
She was told that he was the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
She came to the door of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
You did not find any gatekeepers with him
She said: I don't know you
He said: Patience is only the first shock
Narrated by Al-Bukhari
Sadness is something that afflicts a Muslim
But he must deal with him according to what God Almighty has commanded
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, lost his son Ibrahim, peace be upon him
So, peace and blessings be upon him, he taught us how to deal with such calamities
On the authority of Anas bin Malik, may God be pleased with him, he said:
We entered with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, to Abu Sayfan al-Qayn
He was a guardian of Abraham, peace be upon him
So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, took Ibrahim
He kissed him and smelled it
Then we entered upon him after that, and Ibrahim was offering himself
It made the eyes of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, shed tears
Abdul Rahman bin Awf, may God be pleased with him, said to him
And you, O Messenger of God
Ibn Awf said, “It is a mercy.”
Then follow it with another
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
The eyes shed tears and the heart grieves
We only say what pleases our Lord
We are saddened by your separation, O Ibrahim
Narrated by Al-Bukhari
This is what is required of you, my honorable sister, in the event of a calamity
The matter of sadness stops at the heart
He does not go beyond the tongue by crying and wailing
Sadness turns into mourning
So you fall into a major sin
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said about it
Two things in people are disbelief
Challenging lineage and mourning over the dead
Narrated by Muslim
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
Wailing over the dead is a matter of pre-Islamic times
If the mourning woman does not repent before she dies
On the Day of Resurrection, they will be resurrected wearing robes of tar
Then he towers over her with a shield filled with fire
Narrated by Ibn Majah
What happened to Musa’s mother of sadness and fear for her infant child
It almost went beyond the legitimate limit
If it were not for God’s kindness to her and His attachment to her heart
God Almighty said
The heart of Musa's mother became empty, as if she could hardly express it
If We had not tied her heart to be among the believers
Al-Tahir Ibn Ashour, may God have mercy on him, said
Binding the heart makes it stronger rather than weakening
It also tightens the weakened limb
That is, we tied to her heart by creating patience in it
Ibn Abi Zamanina, may God have mercy on him, said
Binding on the heart inspires, strengthens and strengthens patience
Ibn Hayyan Al-Andalusi, may God have mercy on him, said
Connection is tension, which is a reality in bodies
So he borrowed from it the distress and tranquility that occurred in the heart after the earthquake
Being tied to the heart is a blessing from God that He bestows on whomever He wishes among His faithful servants
The believer needs it most in times of distress
And when establishing truth in a time of falsehood
And in confronting the people of falsehood and tyranny
The likes of Pharaoh and those who resemble him
In the Battle of Badr, God mentioned his intention against the Companions and said:
When drowsiness overwhelms you, you are safe from it
And He sends water down on you from the sky to purify you with it
The filth of Satan will be removed from you
May it strengthen your hearts and make your feet firm
And the boys in the story of the Companions of the Cave
God said about them in their confrontation with their people
We tell you the truth about them
They are young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance
And We tied their hearts when they stood up and said
Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth
We will not call upon a god other than Him
We said if they are active
Our people have taken gods other than Him
If they had not come against them with My authority
Who is more unjust than he who invents a lie against God?
Moses' mother needed this blessing
So God blessed her with it
To be patient in the face of Pharaoh’s tyranny and his killing of children
And if God binds the heart of the believer
Be firm, be patient, and manage the matter well
This is what happened to Umm Musa
How did she deal with this third suffering she went through?
